Gone to the dogs

I am fortunate to live near Sydney’s Centennial Park, and if time permits, I try to go down there everyday for a stroll. This evening the park’s usual twilight serenity was disturbed by someone trying to call his dog to heel.

The dog’s name was Honey, and it became increasingly apparent that the owner was beginning to regret naming his dog such. He was very self conscious as called again and again for “Honey” to come back.

Much to his chagrin, and our amusement, it seemed Honey was a particularly itinerant dog, and consistently refused orders to return to base. The poor guy, aware many people could hear him, was trying to simultaneously call the dog, without actually raising his voice, and presumably giving anyone within earshot the wrong idea!

I’m not your honey, baby!
