Are you eXPerienced?

Posted by John Lampard on Thursday, 14 August, 2003 to the technology subset

With the arrival of my super duper new PC the other day, things should start returning to some sort of normality here in the next few days. It’s a case of so far, so good with the new system, and my first real foray into the domain of the latest Windows operating system, XP.

I was thinking how the process of setting up a computer has vastly changed in the time I have been using PCs. In the old days, it used to take days to get fully set up, or at least it felt that way, by the time all the necessary components had been installed, properly configured, and were actually functioning.

Once it took me almost a week to configure dial up access!

XP however offered a lot of assistance and sped up the whole process considerably. And talking of speed, man does it start up and shut down with lightening speed, no messing around here, my friend. While all the zap and pizzaz is of course great and wonderful, my main concern, as mentioned earlier, will be XPs overall stability.

In the meantime however I will continue to enjoy the experience while I can.
