If you love your books set them free

Book Crossing is a book trading club with a difference. The idea is to register any books you longer want at the Book Crossing website, where each book receives a unique reference number. Once registered, then leave your books in a public place, perhaps a cafe, or a train station for someone else, anyone at all, to wander along and pick up.

The idea is that each time a book comes into the hands of a new owner, they will see the Book Crossing registration number, and log their ownership of the book at the website. Each time this happens, you will be emailed, so you know where your old book has ended up.

Potentially you could see your book circle the globe, and know where it has been each step of the way. Like any chain, the links are only as strong as the weakest one, but if the idea catches on, and enough people participate it could be fun.
