use by date?

Now I don’t wish to turn disassociated into one of those type of websites, but I couldn’t help being intrigued by a pair of underwear I bought the other day.

Yes, yes, I know. By even discussing this subject I am opening up my site to all manner of weird and wonderful search engine referrals. Kinky underwear searches and the like. (Ops, shouldn’t have said that, should I ;)

But since when has underwear ever had an expiry date? Erm, I could understand certain edible varieties having to be consumed within a given amount of time, but I hardly thought any such limitations would apply to the normal variety.

Maybe the underwear designer fears they will out of style after just three or four months? By advising us of the garment’s expiry date, we can buy the latest, more fashionable style, before we embarrass ourselves by being seen in out of catalogue rags?

Maybe it is a ploy by the manufacturer to coerce us into replacing our underwear every couple of months? Whatever the reason, it makes you wonder… talk about limited shelf life?
