Zero [2|2]: Return of the king

Posted by John Lampard on Saturday, 21 August, 2004 to the disassociated subset

The king arrived home late last night. He was tired and hungry. Apparently he had spent the last few years traversing barren wasteland in a place that didn’t even exist. But with the ordeal over he was happy.

Even though he had only one dollar to his name.

One dollar.

And you thought you had it bad. Money isn’t everything he said. He’d say something like that of course, having no money and all. The king is full of that sort of talk. A well intentioned rhetoric if you like. He also enjoys a few beers and thinks he has it down with the girls.

What the king lacks financially, he sure makes up for with his ego. “My attitude,” he corrected me. “With a little attitude you can be whoever you want to be, and do whatever you want to.”

Fine. Maybe he is right. In theory. So why waste all these years in some… void, if you could have used a attitude and escaped?

With one foot out the door, the king smiled and said, “ this is where I came in.”
