Wing it instead

Men paying women to find women for them? Seems so. Dating Mistress is the latest “introduction” service to grace the Sydney singles scene.

Basically men pay for the services of a woman to act as a go-between, usually in a bar or nightclub, with the intention of setting them up with any women they find desirable:

Jessica will meet clients in a bar and get them to point out girls they are interested in. Then she will approach the girl and strike up a conversation.

“I usually ask her, ‘Is this a good bar?’” she said. “Or say, ‘I really like the dress that you’re wearing’.”

The man appears and Jessica introduces them, pretending they are friends.

The idea is Jessica’s client will go on to have a conversation with the woman she introduced him to, and hopefully extract a phone number as well. “Jessica” who is a wing woman or dating mistress, then makes a discreet exit, allowing nature to take its course.

According to one of the owners of Dating Mistress, Jeff Chung, the service suits men who are too busy to meet girls in “normal” circumstances, or who fear rejection by making a direct move themselves.

“It would save me approaching girls and being rejected,” he said.

I wonder how many success stories this service has though? It’s only a matter of time before word gets out that some sort of dating scheme is operating in bars and clubs around town.

How many times can a woman be introducing an “old male school friend” to another woman before the routine quickly becomes familiar?

People really need to get out a little more and go with the flow. Let these things happen of their own accord. What’s wrong with supermarkets, shopping centres, or even bus stops for meeting people?

Spontaneity abounds, it just requires a keen eye to spot it. And with some astute observation and reading of the signs, fear of rejection will not be a worry either.

Not that disassociated is a dating advice website or anything.
