I’ve been a little busy lately. Life has been eventful. I’ve reinvented myself, albeit temporarily, as an event manager. More accurately, I have been consulting for an event management company these last few days.I’d post a link to their website if they had one. It’s something I might try and look at, if I have some time. I’m working there because the founding partners have had a few problems. Two ... Read full entry

What’s happening at K10k these days? Or, more to the point, what’s not happening? Once, many years ago now, Kaliber 10000 used to be the be all, and end all, of design portals. It was the first website many designers looked at each day, and probably the last as well. Not to mention several visits in between to check out the rapidly ticking over news ... Read full entry

Seeing movies at the cinema, in this part of the world, has been good value for the last few weeks. “Cheap Tuesdays” are an institution whereby cinemas reduce their ticket prices once a week, on what is presumably one of their quieter trading days. It’s a way of getting the punters in basically.Usually the reduction is in the order of three or four dollars off the normal $14 or $15 ... Read full entry

Dude, where’s Durstan? The latest “bit of fun” in the blogopshere, find Durstan, he whose photo was left off the book cover of “Professional CSS”, which he co wrote. If you build it, they will search for it? I’m not completely sure why, but in the last couple of months there has been a dramatic jump in the number of search engine queries for “construction sites” leading visitors to disassociated.Last year I started to notice two or three such queries a month. People were more often than not ending up on this page. However ... Read full entry

There’s been a furore over photography in public places in Sydney recently. Particularly at beaches. It seems people with phone cameras especially, have been taking less than flattering photos of some sun bathers and swimmers.Interestingly, sun bathers and swimmers who are usually female and in their early twenties. A rather intrusive practice which saw a male in his late twenties convicted and fined a few months ago.Since then some local ... Read full entry

Web designers love to have something they can argue about. Something that can be thrashed to death in the comments area of someone’s weblog posting on the given topic. Something that allows even the most minute of details to be vigorously debated at length.Something that allows people on either side (or sides; nothing is cut and dried on the web...) of the argument to quote, or refer to the work ...
