I don’t think I would ever want to completely stop using public transport (or, as I prefer to call it, the city transit system).I’d miss out on too many overheard snippets of conversation, and the wit and wisdom of too many peak hour philosophists.Well you certainly know where it is you’re not going, don’t you? But do you have any idea what it is you actually want to do?Thought provoking, ... Read full entry

So... the Apple iTunes™ store has finally opened here in Australia. And you know what that means. Unlimited (well, nearly) legal music downloads for a mere A$1.69 per track! Not that I’m suggesting anyone would be illegally downloading music, and or, not paying for it. Of course.Particularly those working in the creative industries. Or those who would complain ... Read full entry

Longboard

Posted by John Lampard on Sunday, 23 October, 2005 to the design and art subset

I’ve never really implemented a “quick links” sort of section here, in the style of Airbag’s Longboard, or Authentic Boredom’s Premium Linkage, or even SimpleBits’ QuickBits, and many others, come to that.I’ve tried this sort of thing once or twice in the past, but in the words of Kerry King, he of fame of those metal dinosaurs Slayer, ... Cuba

Not that I’m trying to turn disassociated into my own version of Roger Johansson's (of 456 Berea Street fame) Kaffesnobben, but I thought a mention, as well as a photo, of this morning’s cappa seemed appropriate.Coffee & Things (on Belmore Road, Randwick) usually use their “house blend” of coffee for making their, er, coffees. They also sell a wide range of other ... Read full entry

Cadillac

Well it’s been a while since I rock ’n rolled. So here it is: my first single release in four years! Well I’ve made it as far as writing the lyrics for the new single I should say. Working out a musical arrangement is next on the list. Don’t hold your breath.Anyhoo “Cadillac” is a little guitar based ditty about something that happened ... Read full entry

Smudge

Posted by John Lampard on Monday, 17 October, 2005 to the comment subset

For the first time in years I actually saw a partial lunar eclipse in progress this evening. It was almost an accident though. I just happened to look up at the apparently full moon in the clear night sky and was intrigued by what looked like a smudge on one side of the Moon’s disc.I then spent the next half hour on the roof of my building trying to ascertain ... Planet Cappuccino

Posted by John Lampard on Saturday, 8 October, 2005 to the coffee etc subset

Forget shopping at the closet Westfield behemoth, the local coffee shop is the place I want to visit on a Saturday morning.Clearly my imagination is in overdrive at the best of times (as opposed to the worst ;), but the texture of this cappuccino hardly looks different from the flurry of images that ... Toll

Maybe it's something to do with global warming, or maybe it's just the way these flowers are, but they seem to have been blooming often in the last few months. The flowers on this particular plant bloomed a few months ago, and now here they are at it again.Whatever the reason for their repetitive bloom cycle at least it offers me ...
