I seem to be referring to the MyBlogLog blog community quite often these days, but I’m telling you, if you’re a blogger, and you’re not a member, then you’re missing out on all the fun!
There’s been much said about the newly introduced, and, oh ah, controversial community messaging feature in recent days, but there’s something else that’s been happening there over the last few weeks that I’ve been meaning to write about, and the logo adorning this post surely tells you what!
What do people make of all these, as I refer to them, “Blox” websites that are springing up all over the place? You know, the sites that just about only consist of Google ads?
How many MBL members have been receiving contact, or community join, requests from members named “Welcome to Trent”, or “Very Sweet Dreams”, and who, if their avatar is anything to go by, are also obviously very beautiful people?!
The Cell Phones, and Holidays In The USA “blogs” are two examples of what I am talking about.
In fact these two particular “examples” are probably some of the “better” blogs to come out of the Blox blogging stables as they, at least, feature some sort of content. (Which all up, isn’t really saying much!)
When I visited the Blox homepage I didn’t really learn a lot, other than the fact the site appears to be based in Poland, and the copy is, I assume, also in Polish, which unfortunately I don’t speak or know.
The box that features on the logo has gotten me speculating though. You sign up for an “out of the box” Blox blog, (repeat that 15 times really quickly!) and are given the impression that once you insert Google AdSense ads, you’ll soon be rolling in money.
The Blox blogs I have seen so far are all for things that would most likely be popular search engine look up terms. Such as “cell phones” and “holidays in the USA”.
So what are these sites then? Out of the box “niche” blogs, or something? I suspect that’s what some people, most likely the “bloggers” who created them, believe anyway.
Yet this is niche blogging gone all wrong, in the opinion of this very non internet marketing blogger. Stick a couple of Google ads on a blog page, with maybe, just maybe a photo or two, and sit back and wait for the cheques from Google? I don’t think so somehow!
What about informative, and ahem regular, posts on the blog’s subject matter for a start?
Aside from finding their “concept” puzzling, I don’t otherwise have any problem with these sites though. They all seem perfectly innocuous to me. A couple of the owners have messaged me via MBL and seem nice enough people. I just hope they haven’t paid out any sort of money for these things.
This may be out of the box blogging but it sure isn’t “thinking outside the box” blogging!

I happened to sign up to mybloglog today and noticed the same thing..IPHONERINGTONES, deallister. I guess these are like spam blogs. No content..just ads. Probably automated in some way, too. Ugh.
Thanks for dropping by my site, John.
’sodo
The thing is as soon I see they are only ads I move straight to another website without giving the slightest thought to clicking an ad! I wonder what of “income” these things would really generate?
Though the Blox thing is new to me, I’ve been seeing similar things for a while - the blogging equivalent of link/ad farms, I guess. Annoying, but inevitable. I would think this stuff will mean some changes to Google’s rules and enforcement though…
