Five Questions is where I talk to bloggers about their projects and some of the other things they are doing. I ask {Q}uestions, and hopefully get some {A}nswers!
{Q} Where did the idea to create the “in cinq” project come from?
{A} My little sister’s elementary school project. She wrote a cinquain about our dad, that captured him in five short lines of poetry.
{Q} There is any meaning or story behind the name “in cinq”?
{A} “Cinq” is short for “cinquain” (5-line poem). “Cinq” also means “five” in French, so in English, “in cinq” translates to “in five.” It’s also a play on words: “in cinq” is pronounced the same as “in sync,” which describes the international community aspect of the project.
{Q} Why only nine words?
{A} I considered other variations, and decided that I like the balance of the 9-word cinquain featured on PBSKids.org. I removed the syllable rule for In Cinq.
{Q} How did you promote, or tell people about “in cinq”, when you first launched the project?
{A} It all started very simply. I told my friends and family. My family got their friends and co-workers involved. I had amazing support. Notices were put up by people I didn’t even personally know.
Because of their efforts, I had a stack of cinqpics before I’d published a single one. Once the first cinqpics were posted, the project was embraced by the talented Internet and blogging community and really took off.
{Q} Are there any in cinqs that have attracted a lot of interest or comment?
{A} If I have a regret, it’s that I didn’t enable comments sooner. The earlier cinqpics are at a disadvantage where comments are concerned. They don’t have the advantage of visibility.
Keeping that in mind, here are two very different cinqpics that have generated interest: girl, 33, Malaysia and girl, 19, anywhere but here
Thanks Adria!

Thanks for inviting me to participate. :)
You’re welcome Adria, thanks for taking part :)
What a fun idea!!! Do you need a blog to take part?
No Jen, I don’t believe you do need a blog to be part of in cinq.
