I was distracted moments ago by the presence of an ambulance over in the racecourse.
This is slightly unusual since there isn’t a race meeting today, when ambulance crews are in attendance, but I had noticed a couple of horses and jockeys training in one of the reserve tracks a little earlier on.
Clearly a jockey had come to grief and it looked like he or she had taken quite a bad fall, as a section of track railing had been completely snapped in two.
The jockey was being loaded onto a stretcher and placed in the ambulance, while a throng of racecourse staff and trainers looked on, and though badly injured appeared to be alive…
The horse however did not fare so well I suspect. Its motionless carcass was hoisted onto a utility truck, draped with a dark covering, and taken away.
A sad sight.

Aw, that is really sad.
I get to look you over finally as the web site came up.
Aren’t DOS attacks usually vindictive in nature?
I thought DOS attacks were malicious too! I think the web host thought because one site was sending through so much traffic it was an attack!
Very few Australian bloggers host locally so I think it means local web host are bit outside the loop when it comes to things like digg, the blogosphere, and even webpages that are updated more than twice a year!
That was really bad ya….. I hope the jockey and the horse gets alright. These kind of injuries are so common in sports.
Hey Jack, yep pretty bad. I actually read in the newspaper that two horses died in that accident… apparently one died while actually running, and hit two other horses as it went down… one was killed, but the other survived. The jockey was ok, and left hospital the next day apparently.
