“I coded all night…”

Ben reminded me that Full Code Press was happening in Sydney this weekend. After mentioning it here two months ago I kind of forgot about it!

Basically two web development teams representing Australia and New Zealand had 24 hours to build a fully functioning website each, from the ground up, for two charity groups in an event co-hosted by Webstock and the Web Industry Professionals Association.

Starting work at 9am yesterday, Sydney time, both teams toiled through the day and night to meet the 9am deadline this morning, and there were a number of ways to keep tabs on overall progress by way of dedicated Flickr, You Tube, and Twitter pages.

The New Zealand team, a.k.a the “CodeBlacks” were tasked with producing a site for the Grampians disAbility Advocacy Association, in Victoria…

While the Australian team worked on a site for The Ripple Effect:

After a very close vote, the judges (actually, aside from my de facto sister-in-law, I don’t know who they were…) declared the New Zealand CodeBlacks the winners!

Personally I think both teams were winners given the task at hand, the time constraints, plus the fact they had to work during the weekend!

I expect the Australian team is already plotting their revenge at next year’s event, to be held in New Zealand, which as I understand it, is open to other international teams as well.

Apparently a “few” drinks are now on the agenda for the participants, rather than catching up on sleep!

How “web dev” can you get?! ;)
