The reworks to the local art wall at the nearby Cafe 105 in Randwick aren’t as frequent as they used to be, but Ben, an Arts graduate, who creates most of the images here, was back over the weekend.

As always I have posted some larger versions to the Cafe 105 Art Wall folder on my Flickr page.

Though I have been posting photos each time new murals are created, here’s a bit of recap for those who came in late.

This image of Santa, painted, you guessed it, last Christmas was the first work to appear on this oversize “canvas” at Cafe 105.

Around this time the works were being renewed every couple of weeks, and in early January some typography was added to the original Santa piece.

At this point another artist asked to use the wall, and despite the cafe owners preferring that any works not feature an abundance of black, they allowed this Batman inspired mural to proceed.

I spent a miserable month or two away from Randwick (was dispatched to the city - a horrid place) so missed what happened after Batman, there was another image up, but I didn’t get the chance to photograph it.

When I did “return” though, I was greeted by the above, rather romantic, image. This (someone’s name apparently) was added shortly after:

A landscape appeared next:

Not a lot happened for about three months. I was told that Ben had graduated by this point, so I guess the motivation to produce new works at this site was diminishing. But in early July, he returned.

This was quite a multifaceted work, as this photo shows.

I often wonder how long the artist will continue to paint here. It does add an interesting aspect to what is otherwise a relatively average street in the suburbs.

Great collection John!
Cheers Kurt :)
