Next week
man, US President, George W Bush will visit Sydney, Australia, for
days. He will travel in Air Force One which will be one of
747 Jumbo jets his entourage will fly in. A further
transport aircraft will accompany the Jumbos, carrying
helicopters (including Marine One, his official chopper), more than
motor vehicles including
ambulance
Presidential limousines, and
secret service and other vehicles, which will convey
White House staff and advisers. A
strong security detail is also on the way. All up there will be
people in the Presidential entourage, and it will cost over
to stage the event. Despite the cost, planning, and hype, there is approximately
chance any of us will get to see him!

Awesome
WoW!
Clever Truth.
I luv the architecture of yr thoughts.

Glad to see this up again John – I think those small numbers cascading to bigger and bigger ones really brings the point home. And is the President’s visit really worth all that much? I certainly don’t think so.
Yeah, it’s crazy. Why’s he coming here anyway?

Very interesting info, presented in a unique catchy style.
hmmmm…Whoever worked out the details of this trip should put his/her energies toward helping Katrina victims. The 200 million could cover the cost of a few temporary housing units
Why doesn’t he just stay home and save the money! There are certainly more worthwhile things we as a nation could do with that money.
Like feed the homeless, provide shelters for the homeless, pay some of the National Debt, provide money for preventive care for people that do not have healthcare, help the Katrina victims that are still with out homes two years later, aids victims, school lunch programs for needy children, and the list goes on and on and on.
No, this Bozo President has to go to Australia like anointed royalty, at a time when our Country is trillions in debt, near bankrupt, and he dares to go an spend this kind of money. Its truly disgusting.
and basically the whole city of sydney isn’t happy about it, considering it’s the bussiest city is australia.
the protestors better bloody do their job.
bush must have serious trust issues if the austrailan army isn’t good enough for him.
The APEC summit being held in Sydney this year is an essential part of relations between countries and is a vital part of solving many world problems that exist.
Disregarding what resources the US president will use to stay in Australia, another 20 world leaders will be attending and I assure you this will be costing us (Australia) a lot more than it will you guys. Although I take solace in my public holiday this Friday as a result of the summit. My suggestion, stop whinging for the sake of whinging.
@ Rubab & @ Adrienne – thank you :)
@ Kurt – The (naive) idealist in me would like to think that such a gathering of leaders would forge out some solutions to ongoing global problems, but…
@ Cail – yes, with all the security and news of lock downs etc, it’s easy to forget what the point of all is anyway!
@BetShopBoy – thank you :)
@Mike & @ Diane B – there must be a way to get all these leaders together without going to such great cost.
@ Australian – with several thousand local troops and police guarding the lockded down forum zone you’d think that would be enough!
@ Dan W – I’m hoping they do make some progress – I’d like to see my tax money put to good use.
truth is bitter and better and seriously hurts
That’s a lot of didgereedo, Lou.
Look,I’m not whinging. Just stating the facts, we the world economy is in major trouble! Both the stock market, bond markets, and banks have major problems. I hope their talking about ways to get us out of this fix. Quickly!
I still think the War President, should have traveled with less baggage.
Very clever use of numbers. I liked it.
I guess this money should be put to more better use by donating to some old age home or an orphanage. This wastage of money scaaaaaaares me.

LOL Steve, I’d prefer to take a spin in the presidential limo though. I need a hire car in about two weeks… I wonder if he could stay until then?! ;)
