@Hair - thanks for the compliment. As to traffic building strategies you'd be better off reading ProBlogger.net and the like... I'm not actually an internet marketer :)

@Bunk - yes the Amway bit was very clever... I had emails from people I hadn't heard from in years asking me to sign up using their referrer code!

@Online - Some people are happy with the traffic they are seeing while others aren't so happy...

Well we have to wait and see how much traffic it can bring. For me it has given some traffic. Hope it will bring more.

The thing that John Reese did with Blogrush is that he made it the Amway of the blogworld. Literally, from my understanding, the blogrush goes down 10 levels promising you some sort of traffic from each in some way or form.

This makes people automatically want to invite EVERYONE on the blog list or email, especially if a contact is a big name blogger, because like any pyramid designed product, you get traffic from their blogrush as well....which as you can imagine if they receive 20000 hits a day you are bound to get it.

Plus John Reese did a great job of hyping it up at the exact right moments.....thats what he is good at. And it worked for him.....got him tons of traffic LOL.

John you have written a very good article, but I would like to ask you one question what should one do to get that initial traffic? Should the blog be advertised on the big sites or it should be posted on the forums or what? How do you advertise about this new blog which has been started. You have said talk and talk and get people excited. Now John tell me where does one need to talk and talk about the blog to make it famous.
