Daily Photography

Daily Photography.

I once tried to get into the “take a photo everyday” habit, but it never happened. Apparently it takes 30 days to establish a habit. A good habit I’d say, as bad habits come about in no time at all.

If you’re looking to establish a photography habit, the Tutorial Blog offers a few pointers to get into the flow.

Do exercise in photography regularly, as often as you watch TV, which means everyday. Forget long preparations. Do not prepare yourself for the whole week to take a camera on the weekend.

I don’t watch a great deal of TV, but possibly I do spend too much time thinking about what I am going to, or could, photograph.

Always have your camera with you. Many aspiring photographers do not take their cameras to work and miss lots of great opportunities to take a good photo.

I’ve succeeded in doing this a couple of times, but it’s never quite become a habit. Hence many missed opportunities.

Be creative. Shoot a reflection in the puddle, mystique shadows, office stationary, things outside, geographical figures, lines, or people around you.

In a puddle? If you think that’s a dumb idea, you need to see this photo

That’s also why you should always have your camera with you. Imagine missing a photo op like that!

  • Good points. Having your camera with you at all times is key. Photography is like anything else. The more you practice, the better you get. Also, get into the habit of taking several pictures of the same subject, using different angles, camera settings, etc. Space on a storage card is cheap, so fire away!

  • That’s the great thing about digital photography, if a photo is no good you can simply delete it. :)
