Brown was the colour to use in web design three years ago. And for interior design a little more recently.
It occurred to me over the weekend that my apartment looks like a cross between a box of chocolates and, also maybe, an Ikea showroom.
This, you understand, is all part of an effort to be… fashionable.
I have chocolate coloured (hues vary from dark to almost white) furniture, cushions, shelves, side tables, towels, and even candles. There’s also a little bit of red and orange in the mix.
It certainly feels… edible around here, that’s for sure.
Chocolate brown hues were the colour to have when I was furnishing this place… I hope this colour trend in interior decoration remains de rigueur for a little while longer.
It’s easier to re-skin a website than it is a house or apartment…
I can certainly understand your desire to be fashoinable but, when it comes to your personal living space, isn’t the real question what you prefer and makes you comfortable instead of what is “fashionable”?
I’ve been reading your work for a while now and, the more I think about it, I don’t believe you furnished your home in an effort to be fashionable unless you already liked that motif.
A person would have to be pulling down some serious jingle to try to follow trends with their interior design ;)
Isn’t most that gear from Freedom? I’d call your place contemporary rather than fashionable, but ya, the new cushions transform the lounge and create the choc box effect. Yummy :))
@ Ady - you’d be right. Really the place is furnished to suit the apartment itself which is, after all, quite new. I think red and black are the ultra new interior design colours to have now though ;) … Damn!
