Stopping the clock’s a risky business.
Some bad news I’m afraid. It seems Tom Cruise hasn’t been acting his age, and apparently his work as a movie star has something to do with the “problem”.
His acting skills, the script and the stuntman have convinced us all that he’s eternally young, vital, desirable, indestructible. And that’s the trouble. He believes it himself and is loath to move on.
Tom’s not alone though, it seems Hugh Grant has also been ageing… disgracefully.
Tom’s not the only movie star ageing sadly. Look at Hugh Grant - but not too closely. At 47, he was pictured this month being clambered over by some very pretty girl students.
That must have been awful for him. All joking aside however, it seems Tom and Hugh really need to model their behaviour on… accountants.
Cruise and Grant are playing out their midlife crises in public. If they were accountants, they wouldn’t have this problem. No one expects accountants to stay eternal babe magnets, forever young, beautiful and hot.
Accountants however may not be suitable roles models after all, if recent trends in the profession are anything to go by.
The accounting profession is starting to see itself in a new light too. At a recent auditing conference in Baltimore, it dubbed itself “the new rock stars,” as accountants and auditors with the skill set to comply with SOX are in huge demand in the US and around the world.
The new rock stars, hey?
So let’s conclude by saying “if you’ve got it, why not flaunt it?” You only live once so you may as well do whatever it is that rocks your boat…

I agree…..accountants and auditors are the new rock stars. They definitely have it….so they might as well flaunt it!
I wonder how actual rock stars will feel about having accountants compared to them!? ;)
I’m sure it would push them to new levels of outrageousness.
Actually we could do with a few more outrageous rock stars, they seems a fairly docile lot these days!
