Metrosexuals are out, Menergy is in.

Metrosexuality is a topic that probably really falls well outside disassociated’s usual subset culture dissection, but who knows, I may yet create a trends subset of some sort, and then discussion thereof would almost be carte blanche.

Anyway since I’ve already made mention of celebrities and their perfume brands (come in David Beckham), I couldn’t miss the chance to help drive another nail into metrosexuality’s (if there is in fact such a term) coffin.

Thanks to the likes of George Clooney and Brad Pitt, it seems menergy is the new, metrosexual, queer eye for the straight guy, way men should be…

His [Brad Pitt's] pal George Clooney isn’t bowing to the metrosexual tag anymore either, getting a motorcycle, fracturing his rib while driving it, growing a salt and pepper beard and looking less like a clipped, polished and preened pretty boy than a man’s man oozing testosterone, masculinity and “menergy”.

Cool. That suits me fine. After all I like the work both Clooney and Pitt have been doing recently.

Clean-shaven has been ditched for scruffy and unshaven, while geeky makes way for the leader of the pack. Men are being encouraged to ditch their weekly facials in favour of menergizing instead.

Brill. I’m so lazy I only shave every other day.

Ultimately though whether a man is metrosexual, menergetic, clean shaven, or not, really plays very little part in “getting lucky” according to, Alex Nova a dating coach (hey, another job that didn’t exist in our grandparents’ day…).

“Women are seduced more by the actions and words that men say or do as well as what character traits these men possess.”

So there you go, it’s all down to charm, and the degree to which you exude it.

Aside from that I can’t even remember why I even mentioned any of this in the first place.
