Best Of CSS Design 2007: a list of 50 websites hand-picked from the Best Web Gallery. Good to see Webstock, Veerle’s Blog, and the more minimal I love typography making the list. Redesigning in 2008? This is the place to find some inspiration. +

Are You a Highway Hero or a Hang Back Zero?: an interesting on take on brand development at The Marketing Fresh Peel. But is it really development… or is it more like following the crowd?

They [companies and brands] fear the risks associated with entering new territory and speeding ahead so they let someone else do it instead. The mentality is that “it will be safer if we just wait and react when we see things happening in the marketplace.”

  • ALT attributes are just a bit of text on a page (albeit only visible to search engines and html parsers) which should be included to make the HTML W3C compliant and more user friendly

What prompts you to state that ALT tags are “giving some advertisers a leg up in the search engine rankings”?

PS Adding the “subscribe to comments” plugin to this blog would be a nice feature

  • I’m please to hear I’m not the only standards compliant designer using the alt attribute :) I thought the article I was linking to explained it all. Next our favourite search engine will be blacklisting us for inappropriate alt text use!
