Woody Allen’s typography

Woody Allen’s typography.

It’s not just Woody Allen’s black rimmed glasses and neurotic ramblings that are a common feature in his movies, but also his use of typography, including the white font on the black screen.

In a time when movie titles become more and more of a clueless “me too!” affair, Woody Allen’s unique (and relentless) typographic style is entirely praiseworthy. His white type on black opening titles rolling on old jazz or classical music became a part of Woody Allen brand, just like his neurotic dialogues and “his black-rimmed glasses” are.

From an extensive article by Cristian Kit Paul chronicling Woody Allen’s on screen brand.
