Great article about Shine a Light, Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones documentary which is due for release in Australia on 24 April 2008.
Whatever you do, don’t ask Mick Jagger about his retirements plans…
In one of those old interviews, Jagger is asked whether he can still imagine playing at 60. This was at a time when the young warned each other never to trust anyone over 30 and “hope I die before I get old” was a credible singalong line. The young Mick wasn’t buying it, however. Yes, he says immediately: why not? Mick Jagger turns 65 this year, as does Keith Richards; Wood is nearing 61 while Watts is 66. So what about playing at 70? “I’ve been asked that question four times today already,” Jagger says flippantly. “And I’m not answering it.”
Update: hmm, some confusion here over the Australian opening date for Shine A Light. The IMdB page says 24 April, while the above article says 29 May. Anyone know the actual opening date?
