Logo Design Basics: The Five Types of Marks

The logo, or emblem, of the South Sydney Rabbitohs football club features in an interesting article which defines logo types… I won’t let my bias as a Roosters fan prevent me from complimenting its design :)

Logos come in all kinds of shapes and sizes however they typically are one of 5 different classifications. Designing a logo is about much more than an exercise in aesthetic. A logo must be a positive depiction of the product or service it represents. When designing a logo, knowing which type of mark would be the most appropriate for the application will help you achieve a stronger solution.

  • True. I seen the symbol. The rabbit looks great and its jumping towards the left. The friendliness is there in the logo and the retention value is there also. With a logo design its also inspiration that matters. The level of inspiration a University logo design has is there to capture students into a promise for a good future.
