A pen is not merely a writing implement, and a great pen should feel like an… extension of your hand.
Finding a great pen is not a matter of browsing the pen aisle at Officeworks though, and choosing the first one you like the look of. If that’s what you think, then it’s time you learnt about Joy Vectors.
The way the pen sits in my hand. I should feel I have a firm grip. The way the pen applies ink to the paper. I like a thick, consistently black line on the paper. This is both a function of the ink and the construction of the tip. The fact that I know the pen is readily available. I want to be able to find the pen in a nearby office supply store. I don’t want to end up high, dry, and penless any time in the near future. Yes, I think about this each time I pick up a pen.
Every great pen has its joy vectors :)
Thanks Jake.
