1001 bucketlists of 1001 things to do before you die

What is the mystical significance of the number 1001, and why are there so many lists of things to do, see, read, visit, or experience, before you shuffle off this mortal coil, that contain 1001 items?

There 1001 books to read, plus 1001 cookbooks apparently, 1001 movies to see, 1001 albums to listen to, which may or may not included the 1001 classical recordings that are also recommended.

There are 1001 paintings to look at, 1001 interviews to read or listen to, and for some relaxation after that, there are 1001 wines to drink, and 1001 foods to eat.

And don’t forget the 1001 buildings and 1001 gardens to check out, 1001 natural wonders and 1001 historic sites to visit, and 1001 golf holes to play.

While we are at it, is there a list of 1001 websites and blogs to visit also?

To keep things, and life, a little easier, there is always the straight out list of 1001 things to do instead. I’ll be making an addition though (d’oh, 1002 items now), finding a way to live forever so there’s time to go through all these 1001 must do lists.
