A high school music teacher once told me that when it comes to live performances, for The Rolling Stones their “sheer physical presence” is enough to carry the show. No elaborate props, or high-tech multimedia wizardry, are required to enhance the act.
This is more than apparent in Shine A Light, where, despite an ornate stage backdrop, and kaleidoscopic lighting, the band’s synergy is comprehensively star of the show.
Fans will especially enjoy their enduring on-stage rapport and interplay, and mock duelling guitar stand-offs (especially between Keith Richards and Ron Wood).
For a “bunch of pensioners”, their live show energy is amazing, and Shine A Light puts you right up on stage with the band.
