A quick public service announcement here, since I am seeing a lot of search queries from people seeking information about road closures in Sydney in relation to this week’s World Youth Day (WYD) event (which is actually a SIX day event by the way).
For full, and hopefully regularly updated, details regarding actual road closures please bookmark the RTA’s WYD traffic information page.
There’s quite a bit to digest as road closures will be taking place in different parts of Sydney and at different times. There will also be “rolling road closures” and “green light corridors” when the Pope’s motorcade is traveling around Sydney.
This is something you need to be mindful of if driving around town, as you could be sitting in traffic for considerable periods.
For bus and train information bookmark the Sydney Transport Infoline, and also the World Youth Day Co-ordination Authority pages. Long story short, there will be considerable changes to bus routes in central Sydney for the duration of WYD.
To keep up with WYD breaking news, as well as late transport and road closure news, bookmark the Sydney Morning Herald’s World Youth Day 2008 news page.
If at all possible this is one week you should work from home.
Update Monday 21 July: today’s list of road closures in Sydney city and suburbs.
