Being a Monday morning this may not be what you want to see right now, a list of workplace maladies, compiled by James Adonis. If you answer “yes” eight times, get out right now. :)
A survey of 2000 people conducted by Robert Walters found that 80% of employees view meetings as a waste of time. The most incompetent manager I ever worked for spent 90 minutes in a management meeting talking about the types of flip-flops that were suitable for casual-dress days. Seriously, 90 minutes. Apparently if they had a heel, they were OK. If not, they were unacceptable and staff would get a written warning. Hello, Jimmy Choo.
Maybe more workplaces should consider stand-up style meetings (disassociated’s word of the day)… they only last a few minutes, and everyone gets the chance to speak.
