Sydney has been voted a spot on the playing board of the international version of Monopoly, and is situated along with London and New York on the red section of the board.
Interestingly, Melbourne gained the most votes for a spot on the board among Australian voters, but Sydney managed to cross the line after international votes had been cast.
While it turns out more Australians voted for Melbourne than Sydney, it was Sydney’s popularity around the world that influenced its final place on the board. Perth, Adelaide and Tamworth were also voted into contention for the two brown properties, but missed out to Tapei and the Polish city of Gdynia.
