It’s been a while since I updated my list of recommended cafes in Randwick, so here’s a quick rundown of the places, in no particular order, where I’ve been seeking out caffeine fixes lately.

Cafe 105 (Cnr King and Church)
Home of the local art wall. Changed owners and reinvented last June. Cafe by day, restaurant and wine bar by night. Much more of a place to hang out now, and in a part of Randwick where such options are very limited. Ok, non-existent.

Fresh Ground (154 Belmore)
I came, I saw, I ground. I love the coffee here, and the kaleidoscopic-green wall. A commenter in my last Randwick coffee post told me they have free wi-fi internet access also.

Cafe Ritz
At the Ritz Cinema. While the cafe itself is a tad basic aesthetically speaking, what is especially appealing here is that you can take your favourite coffee brew (and cake or pastry) into the movie with you. Hmm, coffee and friands… sure beats soft drink and popcorn.

Cafecito (11a Belmore)
Definitely my favourite “shop-front” coffee house, and a place that opens quite early during the week, handy if you’re looking for a coffee before 7am. Check out the work of local photographer Daryl Dusheiko while you wait for your coffee.

Bluestone (UNSW, upper campus)
Despite having the same name, and ahem, branding, this Bluestone cafe is not related to the Bluestone cafe in Sydney CBD. Anyway. Of the cafes I have tried so far on campus, the best coffee at UNSW can be found here.

Coffee and Things (123 Belmore)
I’ve been going to Coffee and Things (CAT) for years now. The house blend coffee is strong and consistent. They know their coffee, and stock an extensive range of coffee making paraphernalia and accessories. There’s even a good range of teas for those wishing to turn to the dark side…

Teascapes (71 Perouse)
This is my favourite place to hang out and do nothing but drink coffee and chatter for, preferably, hours on end. Grabbing the sofas in the window is a bonus. Antiques and curios line the walls and window displays.

If you live or work in the Randwick area be sure to chime in with your thoughts and suggestions.
