While overbaked, overproduced, and overlong, the cinematography of Australia is spectacular, and probably holds the story together during its epic three hour runtime.
Nicole Kidman’s startled innocent aboard act reaches annoyingly epic proportions before she eventually blends into her role and becomes reasonably convincing.
It is also incredible to comprehend, looking at Australia from deep within the urbanised and global city that is Sydney in 2008, just how colonial Australia was, or appeared to be, and only relatively recently as well.
