Seesmic Desktop 0.2.0: updated user information

Version 0.2.0 of multi-tweet tracking Twitter client Seesmic Desktop was recently rolled out and includes a couple of new features and some minor interface tweaks.

As a follow up to my intro to version 0.1.1 I’ve put together a quick rundown of some of the changes and updates that shipped with 0.2.0.

Modified main interface screen

Entire Seesmic Desktop interface (reduced size)

Just a couple of slight tweaks here…

  • 1. The search box has been moved from the lower left hand corner to the upper right hand corner. A more logical placement given many websites and browsers often place search boxes in this location.
  • 2. The configure button has been moved to the lower left hand corner, and is now denoted as a cog-like (or gear wheel) icon rather than text.

Follow, unfollow, and favourites

Follow, unfollow, and favourite items

There is now increased functionality when you mouseover the avatar of someone you are following and click the cog-like icon.

  • 1. You can now favourite tweets you like.
  • 2. Possibly the biggest improvement, version 0.2.0 now allows you to directly follow or unfollow someone. Previously the only way to “add” someone within Seesmic Desktop was to add them to one of your userlists. This was not the same as officially following them however.
  • 3. Tweet font size has been slightly increased over that of version 0.1.1. Very handy.

Also, as pointed out by Shéamus Bennett ( @Sheamus), you can still add people to userlists without actually (or officially) following them. Do I detect a clandestine method of following someone without diluting your follower to following ratio here?!

Facebook integration

Facebook integration screen

For those so inclined it is now possible to cross post your tweets to your Facebook “Live Stream”, and vice versa I expect.

Click the “configure icon” (item #1), and select “accounts” from the popup screen that appears to start the link up process.

Ching Ya has written a detailed account of this process in her Seesmic Desktop article.
