Tea loving Sydney artist dedicates exhibition to her vice

It’s fair to say Rosemary Valadon, who drinks a dozen cups of tea a day – would as an artist – find sufficient inspiration from the brew to stage an entire exhibition of tea-related works.

On a typical day she drinks 12 cups, “before I get on to wine around five o’clock!” She uses a delicately flowered porcelain teapot, warms it, measures in the Australian-grown black tea she prefers (one spoonful per person plus two for the pot – “I like it strong”). She lets it stand for five minutes before pouring it without a strainer. “I like the leaves in the bottom of the cup.” She adds milk to taste, and definitely not before the tea.
