Sleeping men listen for wolves at the door not crying babies

Might evolution explain why women will hear a crying baby while sleeping, even if the child is not theirs, while men are more likely to hear “warning sounds”, such as sirens and approaching storms?

These differing sensitivities may represent evolutionary differences that make women sensitive to sounds associated with a potential threat to their children while men are more finely tuned to disturbances posing a possible threat to the whole family.
