The inaugural Australian Film Festival runs from Wednesday 24 February, to Sunday 7 March 2010, with most the action taking place at the Ritz Cinema, in Randwick, Sydney.
Growing out of the successful 2009 Australian Film Week, the Australian Film Festival is dedicated to the screening, production and development of Australian film. The AFF will screen a blend of classic, new and first features, along with short films, lectures, seminars, education for filmmakers and much more, presented by industry professionals and those pivotal in the making of the films.
Brief, edited, highlights of the festival include:
- Popcorn Taxi, a Q&A session with the makers of a yet to be named film, on Wednesday 24 February at 7pm, at the Ritz Cinema.
- Cinema by the Sea, a free screening of Happy Feet on Sydney’s Clovelly Beach, on Saturday 27 February, at 8pm.
- The Spot Food and Film Festival, which sees the street outside the Ritz Cinema closed to traffic for the day, takes place on Sunday 7 March from 1pm.
Update: I’ve posted a full list of movies being shown at the festival together with screening dates and times.
