My god, it’s full of 100,000, or many more, stars

A visualisation of the 119,617 stars in the Milky Way closest to Earth, or our stellar neighbourhood. Bear in mind that the Milky May is made up of some 200 to 400 billion stars, so what we’re seeing here, to put it mildly, is a small slice of the cake.

Zoom right in to reach the Sun, and then begin to move outwards. Not recommended for interstellar navigation however, just in case you felt like taking the Millennium Falcon out for a spin later on.
