A novel way of seeing the Portuguese capital Lisboa, by lodging with local designers and illustrators.

Back in the centre of town we met up with our first new friend, comic book artist Filipe Abranches. After showing us around his studio, he invited us to join him and his friends for their weekly knees-up in a local bar, Palmeira (Rua do Crucifixo, 69). It was the drinking den of my dreams; everyone huddled around big wooden tables shouting and gesticulating, 80-cent beers and a brazen flouting of the smoking ban. By 10pm we were drunk, arguing about cartoons and eating pregos (steaks in buns).

Curvy 5 launches this Thursday, April 3, at the Mori Gallery in downtown Sydney, and I’m hoping to be there.

Your favourite annual ALL-GIRL art book, CURVY – created by the team behind YEN MAGAZINE – has been kicking up a creative storm since 2004 and with the fifth edition about to launch, CURVY remains an international favourite amongst lovers of art and supporters of female artists. Each year the book features 100 of the most exciting female graphic designers and illustrators from over 20 countries around the world!
