After reading this I feel as if I've been linking the wrong way all these years. :) How do we select the particular words that are linked within a sentence or paragraph, and does it matter for the user?

We don’t need another link blog (but I do)

I'm been quite enjoying my digital mashup experience here this last half year until I read about the latter day futility of link blogs... oh well. And with a million people all madly curating the web - in many cases, trying to put your link in their curational record before someone else does - getting linked up isn't exactly hard any more. These aren't the days of begging for ... Read full entry

Every link deserves its 15 windows of fame?

This has to be the longest running debate on the Interweb. Should, or should not, links open in a new window, or tab? Despite the fact I can have up to a dozen browser windows open at any one time, I still believe that website users should make the choice as to whether they view a link in a new browser instance. I realise I am someone who is considered "tech-savvy" and ... Read full entry

The Value of Being Incomplete: What Are Your Goals for 2008? possibly the most enjoyable post I've read at Dosh Dosh so far. The year is coming to a close. When December finally changes into January, I will inevitably get a bittersweet feeling of starting over again, as I anticipate the opportunities yet to come in 2008. Here is another chance for me ... Read full entry

Think your last apartment or hotel room was small? Believe it or not, there are a lot of contenders for the dubious title of smallest hotel on the ... Read full entry

Bilbo Baggins is finally progressing on his most fraught journey - landing a leading role on the big screen. Let me hear your standards body talk: further to the ongoing discussion regarding the W3C and the rate at which web standards are produced. The W3C is maddeningly opaque and its lieutenants will sometimes march madly into the sea, but it is all that stands between us and the whirlwind. The whirlwind being the chaos that would ... Overdoing accessibility: possibly something many well intentioned designers are guilty of. Sometimes when people first learn about Web accessibility they look for quick ways of improving the sites they build. This often leads to misuse or overuse of certain HTML features that are meant to aid accessibility, but when used wrongly have no effect and can actually have the opposite ... Read full entry

Australia's world first 'smoke free' city: and that could be the South Australian capital city, Adelaide. Only for a day though. The Tobacco Products Regulation (A Smoke-Free Adelaide) Amendment Bill 2007 would ban smoking in Adelaide for at least one day of the year, with maximum penalties of $200 to go to the Cancer Council. A kind of smokers' version of Earth Hour ... Read full entry

Leopard is nothing for Apple to purr about: the new Apple operating system isn't pleasing everyone it seems, if users are already Googling "downgrading to Tiger"... Why was I looking up "downgrading to Tiger"? Because I'm considering it. And it's clear from the search that plenty of other people, having upgraded to Apple's latest version of OS X, codenamed Leopard, are doing ... Read full entry
