Today’s the day

Friday, 4 August, 2017

And it’s not a day I’ve been looking forward to. In short, I’m pausing operations here as of today. I’ve become a little too stretched with my other projects, and simply don’t have the time I’d like to devote to writing here at the moment.

I’m not sure when, or if, I’ll be back, but I would hope this break will not be indefinite. After all, nothing beats running your own publication. Thanks for your support over the years, and for reading along for all this time. I hope to see you all again one day.

Minor technical problems

Tuesday, 4 October, 2016

I’m a little behind on things at the moment. An update to my operating system has hobbled my main laptop, and I’ve been forced to work from my older, much slower, backup device since. One of my wi-fi ports is also out, so that’s not helping either. I’m hoping all will back to normal soon.

Lakisha, a look – in less than ninety seconds – at a life lived

Friday, 16 September, 2016

Lakisha, a short, sweet, and perky take on life. Animated by South Korean illustrator and visual artist YongOh Kim.

And that’s me out of here for today, and also next week. I’ll be back on Monday, 26 September. See you then.

See if you like Frankie Sinatra, by The Avalanches, when I return

Friday, 10 June, 2016

No longer do we need to speculate as to the release of new music by Melbourne electronic act The Avalanches… a new single, Frankie Sinatra, is with us. Not picking you up, and taking you along, as Frontier Psychiatrist, and Since I Left You, did though? There’s help for that.

And that’s a wrap for now. I’m away next week, but will back on Monday, 20 June. See you then.

Settle, by Vera Blue, music to take a break to…

Friday, 18 March, 2016

Settle is the latest single from Australian musician Vera Blue, who blends folk music with electronica. What about those vocals, hey?

I’m hoping to settle a little myself, I’ll be taking a short break here at disassociated for the next week or so, and will return on Tuesday, 29 March. See you soon.

Secure hosting for disassociated

Thursday, 4 February, 2016

In case in things look a little weird on site at the moment, I’m in the process of setting up secure hosting. The powers that be would like websites they list in their search results to be in that category, so I thought, why not? There’s a wee bit of tinkering behind the scenes, it seems, to do before all will look like it did before.

Hopefully it’ll be sorted out shortly. If you’re having any hassles on site though, drop me a line. A big thanks to Dreamhost for laying on secure hosting here.

The force has awoken… I’m ducking for cover until next year

Friday, 18 December, 2015

Fear not, no spoilers from me.

What I can tell you though is I’m breaking for the year end holiday. Challenging might be a word I’d use to sum up 2015. I hope you were able to make some progress though.

I’ll be back on Monday, 11 January 2016. Thanks for being along for the ride, and I hope to see on the flip side. I’ll close out with some music, Pstereo, by Norwegian singer Emilie Nicolas.

Have a great break.

The unproductive week “off”, kind of

Monday, 12 October, 2015

Well, last week’s writing break here wasn’t quite as productive as I hoped it would be, but I managed to revamp the disassociated website, come through, take a look, and see what you think, if you’re reading this via syndication. The grey I am now using is called Gray20, a web safe colour, and has been in and out of use on site since the early days.

There’s also a new contact form, the Very Simple Contact Form, by Guido van der Leest, a Dutch WordPress theme and plugin developer, and just the sort of super sleek, minimal, very simple contact form (with spam controls) that had been eluding me for a long time, until I searched for “very simple contact form”. Seek and ye shall find?

So, here’s hoping this week proves more productive.

Back in a week’s time

Friday, 2 October, 2015

I’m stepping out of the disassociated studio for next week, so it’s going to be quiet around here until Monday 12 October, when I return.

I shall leave you with Home, a tune by Sydney based indie pop trio Little May, whose debut album “For The Company”, is being launched at Goodspace in Chippendale over the weekend.

And you may have noticed I’ve gone back to separate link listings, rather than the link collections I had started posting… I think the individual links are what we prefer, right?

See you on the flip side.
