Australia’s Top 250 blogs

Tuesday, 27 January, 2009

To mark Australia Day yesterday Meg Tsiamis published a special list of Australia’s Top 250 blogs in addition to updating the regular Top 100 Australian Blogs Index.

Needless to say it’s great to see ranks at number 71 on both lists.

In August 2007 I interviewed Meg about the Top 100 Australian Blogs Index and was surprised to discover just how much time and effort goes into compiling the index, it’s certainly not a five minute job.

As Meg says in the interview, the Top 100 Index also makes for a way to discover and connect with other Australian bloggers, and the Top 250 list opens up the field even further.

Excellent work Meg. :)

The world’s 50 most powerful blogs

Maybe if had been the 100 most powerful blogs disassociated would have made the cut ;)

From Prince Harry in Afghanistan to Tom Cruise ranting about Scientology and footage from the Burmese uprising, blogging has never been bigger. It can help elect presidents and take down attorney generals while simultaneously celebrating the minutiae of our everyday obsessions.

Boing Boing features at number two on the list and for some reason reminds me I haven’t yet (I don’t think) made mention of clusterflock, which is also a (new-ish) group blog a little along the lines of Boing Boing, with some Kottke style in the mix.

I love their “copyright” copy, by the way; “copyright is old-fashioned” :)
