Eight

Officially (in the southern hemisphere at least) this is the last day of summer. All I know is when I was doing my day count posts a few weeks back, it was very much summer. And, to all intents and purposes, it still is. Humidity is sky high, and temperatures are on their way towards the 30 degree plus Celcius mark as the weekend approaches. If we were north of the equator, ... Read full entry

Boundaries

After about ten months of dithering I am finally re-enrolled on the electoral roll. Whenever you move house you are required to re-register, as most often you will be located in a new electorate, or parliamentary division, especially if you are moving any sort of distance.Well I moved (as the crow flies) all of about 500 metres last April. Up until that time I had been living within the federal ... Read full entry

The Queen

Click image to visit Amazon page for The Queen. The Queen: Constitutional politics has always fascinated me. And The Queen offers, for me, an intriguing insight into the British governing hierarchy. Set in 1997, newly elected Prime Minister Tony Blair nervously sets off to meet the ... Read full entry

Breaking and Entering

Posted by John Lampard on Wednesday, 7 February, 2007 to the movies subset

Click image to visit Amazon page for Breaking and Entering. Meanwhile at the movies…Breaking and Entering: Watch the fox. Until its (apparent) demise I found this movie, set mainly in and around London’s King Cross district, very unsettling. Characters, their words, and the situations they were in, didn’t seem to make complete sense. A certain ... Read full entry

Launch

Day 37. Speed of life. Lack of speed of internet and on-line applications. The amount of time wasted waiting and waiting for something to load. I don’t know how many hours have been lost to waiting over the last few weeks. Oh well. This is another late night for me, but I am pleased to say I have launched a new project:The InterChange Desk. To use my own copy “career change ... Read full entry

Day 36. The 10% mark?Let’s try that one tomorrow. I hope to have an update by then. Better rounding of numbers. 365 divided by 10 gives 36.5 which if you round up, gives you 37, as in Day 37.Excuses.Anyway a new images around at Cafe 105.

Entertainment

Day 35, we have the internet…I was wondering through the darkened streets hereabouts on my way home the other evening. It is now late summer here, and the shortening of the days is starting to become more and more apparent.I could see people in the living rooms of some houses I passed settling down to a night of television. In fact its familiar bluish flicker was emanating from many houses I ... Read full entry

Seasonal

Posted by John Lampard on Saturday, 3 February, 2007 to the comment subset

Day 34, if it’s not hot, it’s cold.Maybe I’m old fashion in this regard, but I thought soccer (football) and rugby were always Winter sports? But at the moment the finals of the soccer A League are in full swing, while the rugby Super 14 competition has just kicked off this weekend. So what gives? This is the middle of Summer still. It’s not even the beginning of Autumn let ... Read full entry
